Gearing up for the season

The season fast approaches, so this is just a quick note to detail what we have going on before 18th April comes charging round the corner.

I'm trying to organise an inter-club match for Easter Monday (13th April), weather permitting. If people could get in touch with either me or Tim Carrington to let me know your availability it would be appreciated. Hopefully the weather forecast should be accurate enough by Saturday to see if this is going to be viable - so if you could let your skipper know by then we can get things organised. Assuming it goes ahead it will be a 12 noon start, and take the format of a 20/20 game (or two if people are still up for it). Either way we should be done and dusted by about 4pm, enabling people to have a good session in the pub/spend quality time with their better halves etc for the rest of the day.

I think it's important that we have all had a go on a grass wicket before the season starts to ensure that we are as prepared as we can be when we turn up to do it for real on 18th April - so please make every effort to make yourself available.

Our overseas for this season Robbie Andonovski and his new bride Anne will be arriving on Thursday 16th. Robbie's joining us from Balgownie Cricket Club, who play in the Illawara grade competition in NSW. We'll be having a grass net (again weather permitting) and giving everyone a chance to meet Robbie and Anne. They'll be staying in the village this year so I'm sure you'll all do your best to make them welcome and at home. Nets will start as soon as people can get there from work - I'll try to get up there for 5:30/6:00. If you'd like the lovely Sue and Helen to do some catering, please let us know. Otherwise I'm sure we'll manage to subsist on liquid nourishment ;)

That's all for now - so I look forward to hearing from everyone post haste!
