DENIS SHEARSTONE RIP

DENIS SHEARSTONE
Denis Shearstone passed away on 30 January.
Such is the passage of time there are but few of us who remember Denis Shearstone’s involvement with the Club. But in the late 60’s and well into the 70’s he was captain of the 2nd XI and lead the team to number of successes about which he was enormously proud. He was  also a tireless fundraiser for the Club and more importantly encouraged many of the juniors of the time. I can see him now coming down Dobson Bank and over the bridge, after having his tea, with a trail of kids behind him all wanting to play cricket. He was like the Pied Piper!
He was all that is good about village cricket and we extend our condolences to his wife Pam and all the Family

  1. Very true words Barry. I also seem to remember it being very difficult to get any of his sons, Andrew,Peter or Rick out if Denis was standing as umpire.
