Player Commitment

Mighty Bankers

It has become quite clear that there are issues regarding commitment to fixtures by some of the First Team players.  This needs to be resolved quickly.

As your captain, Duncan has a challenge in organising and planning each team for  a Saturday game.  He, and Tim for the Second team, spend hours each week of their own time and at their own expense trying to select teams for each weekend.

This should not be a one way process. But it is becoming so.  You all need to respond with a definitive 'Yes' or 'No' when asked .  This makes team selection so much easier.

Put yourself in Duncan and Tim's shoes for a moment.  How would you like to have this task each week?  And then to be further complicated by individuals, all of whom are old enough to buy a beer, not being able to respond in a simple text, phone call, FB message?

On Saturday last week, the First team were lucky to play only one of two games played in Division 1.  This was almost entirely down to the last minute hard work put in by Duncan and Steve Ellison to prepare the wicket on the afternoon and get the ground ready.  Where were the rest of you?

Its time every member of the Club stood up and acted with a bit more commitment in helping the Club to field teams each week.  This means helping your skipper put a side out, prepare a wicket and generally be more responsible for getting a game of cricket rather than leaving it all to someone else.

Its a team game after all.
