Evening League Season

Mighty Bankers

Last night saw us playing our last game of the seasons Evening League fixtures at Bishop Monkton. With a slight change to the batting an bowling line-ups, we came second but not without some great entertainment and enjoyment for all concerned.

Would Cuz get his first catch - agony to watch in slow motion as the ball looped up directly towards him…got his fingers to it and then it failed to stick in his hands!  Would our new keeper, first team skipper Stevie Ellison, create a selection problem for Saturdays team?? Took a great catch mind you so there is food for thought there.

The season has seen us finish in a secure position in Division 4 winning 5 games and securing a tie.  We've played all the games we could and, speaking for myself, there has always been a great spirit and some excellent banter among the players in this team.  It has provided a great opportunity for First and Second team members to combine and play together.

In previous seasons we have had to concede games due to lack of player availability.  This year all matches have been played.  A big thank you must therefore go to skipper Tim Carrington.  Tim has organised weekly teams efficiently and run the team on the field in his pragmatic way.  The sign of a good team, and even better leader, is the lack of moaning and bickering that can take place among team members.  None of this happened this season; we all enjoyed playing our cricket on Wednesday evenings and in the exciting Cup run.

So, once again, thank you Tim for your steadfast commitment to the Evening League team this season. A true Club man.

ps.  I'll forgive the run out!
